Kâzım Koyuncu – Black Sea music

Kazim Koyuncu was a  well known singer  songwriter from the Black Sea (Karadeniz) region of Turkey. Aswell as Turkish, he sang in other  languages of the Black Sea region including Laz and Armenian. He was also  respected for his political activism, humanitarian views and environmental campaigning. Sadly he died at the age of 33, on 25th June 2005 from Lung cancer. His death and the unusually high number of other deaths from cancer in the Black Sea region is widely thought to be due to pollution  caused by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Here he is singing a traditional song from Trabzon in the Black Sea area called “Ben seni sevdiğimi”, sung in the Black Sea accent as “Ben seni sevduğumu”.
