When I was offered a gig at the Royal Exchange Theatre in early 2009, I was pretty much gigging every month with the band and felt in the mood to do something different. I was very occupied with our night Club Couscous so as a result our set was getting more uptempo and dancey, and I was feeling a bit nostalgic about some of the old folk and acoustic songs that I rarely played any more. I decided to just play my favourite traditional songs, mostly solo, with Lou, Nasser and Ric joining me for a few songs in between. I loved every minute of it and the concert was filmed by Lynda Gilbert. Some of the clips went up on youtube and this one went viral ,despite the youtube ban in Turkey, thanks to Turkish fans in Europe copying and sharing on other blogs and sites. The publicity from the clips directly contributed to my first TurkeyTour in 2010..strange how a split second decision can change your life…
Lyrics
ela gözlüm
ela gözlüm ben bu elden gidersem
ela gözlüm ben bu elden gidersem
zülfü perisanım kal melul melul
kal melul melul
kerem et aklından çıkarma beni
ağla göz yasını sil melul melul
sil melul melul
kerem et aklından çıkarma beni
ağla göz yasını sil melul melul
sil melul melul
elvan çiçekleri takma başına
elvan çiçekleri takma başına
kudret kalemini çekme kaşına
çekme kaşına
beni ağlatırsan doyma yaşına
ağla göz yaşını sil melul melul
beni ağlatırsan doyma yaşına
ağla göz yaşını sil melul melul
